Writing Table

I am sitting at our writing table now. Computer in the middle, dictionary and notebooks spread out to my left; phone, kleenex, more papers to my right. There is plenty of room for my disorganization!

Our table is long, the design graceful and simple. The cherry top, made from wide matching planks, is finished to a thickness of 7/8 inch. The softly arched skirt is joined to tapered legs which are slightly hipped.

We use traditional joinery, including tenons cross-pinned in square mortises. Our finish is boiled linseed oil and paste wax. Linseed oil provides protection and reveals the depth of grain in the wood with a lustrous gleam. The final coat of wax highlights and further protects the wood.
